How to Qualify a CNC Vendor in Vietnam
A machine list tells you what equipment exists. It does not tell you whether a factory can actually deliver your parts — consistently, at tolerance, on time.
Vietnam has real CNC capability. But qualifying a vendor remotely — through catalogues and video calls — gives you a dangerously incomplete picture. Here is what actually matters.

The Machine List Is Just the Starting Point
Factories in Bắc Ninh and Hà Nội run credible equipment — HAAS, Fanuc RoboDrill, Mori Seiki, Okamoto. But a machine list does not tell you whether the factory has programming talent to run it well, whether machines are calibrated, or whether operators have experience with your material and geometry.

Tolerance Claims Need to Be Tested
Ask almost any Vietnamese CNC factory: "Can you hold ±0.01mm?" The answer is almost always yes. The more useful question is whether they can demonstrate that tolerance across a production run — not just a quoted sample.
Look for: A dedicated CMM room (Mitutoyo, Hexagon), in-process inspection checkpoints, and a QC team that sits separately from production. In Vietnam, the gap between factories with and without this is significant — and it is not always visible remotely.
