Vietnam’s metals base scaled rapidly in the 2010s with integrated steel (Formosa Ha Tinh) and Hoa Phat’s expansions, then rebounded again in 2024–2025 as construction and exports recovered. VSA data show finished steel output and sales increased in 2024; crude steel topped ~22 Mt and exports rose sharply.

North: Hai Phong–Quang Ninh–Hai Duong (port steel service & fabrication), Thai Nguyen.
Central: Ha Tinh (integrated steel), Quang Ngai (Dung Quat).
South: Ba Ria–Vung Tau (Phu My), Binh Duong & Dong Nai for fabrication clusters.
